VanceS: we've been pretty active the past few days

BillC: oh, working on streaming?

VanceS: yesterday was a webcast academy

VanceS: that was one thing

VanceS: day before Bee's keynote

VanceS: stuff happening all the time

BillC: wow!

BillC: how many people in the academy right now?

VanceS: http://www.vancestevens.com/online_events.htm

BillC: guess everyone's getting ready for starting classes right now

BillC: know that's on my mind.. Tuesday's the big day

DennisOl joined the room.

BillC: hey Dennis

BillC: alright, another one showed up

VanceS: that's right

VanceS: now I'm in Abu Dhabi

DennisOl: Hey, Bill and Vance.

VanceS: hi Dennis

BillC: how long are you in AD, Vance?

DennisOl: I'm fighting my way through the crowd.

BillC: yup, pretty crowded here. . .

VanceS: real or virtual?

DennisOl chuckles

BillC: guess you can answer that however you please . . .

DennisOl: The vibes of past meetings are resonating and rebounding though
the present attendees are small in number.

VanceS: ahh

BillC: quality, not quantity. . .

VanceS: esp last few days

VanceS: I've been pretty much at my computer since returning to abu dhabi

VanceS: i have a story to relate

VanceS: with a happy ending

BillC: ok, let us have it

VanceS: when I arrived in biarritz this summer

DennisOl: Yes, definitely.

VanceS: my bag didn't

HoracioHI joined the room.

BillC: hate it when that happens

DennisOl: Horacio!

VanceS: that was July 10

BillC: hey Horacio

VanceS: hi horacio

VanceS: it was never recovered

HoracioHI: Hi everybody

DennisOl: Oy!

VanceS: so I returned to houston

VanceS: still no bag

BillC: you didn't get it. .  ?

VanceS: flew to Abu Dhabi, arrived two days ago

VanceS: and the bag

VanceS: was delivered

VanceS: on about that day

DennisOl: Incredible!

VanceS: to my houston address

BillC: where did it go?

DennisOl: More incredible!

VanceS: yeah, pretty amazing

VanceS: I went to REI to price the bag

BillC: you should submit that for a Disney movie

VanceS: that and the 2 layer all weather jacket inside

VanceS: about $1000 to replace

VanceS: just those two thing

BillC: urk!

DennisOl: Wow!

VanceS: anyway i have to run across to air france now

VanceS: they are right across the street from me

VanceS: I had to prepare a letter, receipts

DennisOl: Bureaucracies!

BillC: think they'll take care of it all?

VanceS: i think they'll fly the bag here

VanceS: it will take 45 min

VanceS: so I'll go do it now

BillC: ok, good luck. .

HoracioHI: Dennis. Did Vance lost a wallet?

VanceS: no horacio

DennisOl: He lost his bag--suitcase.

VanceS: air france lost my luggage

VanceS: a hiking bag

VanceS: for two months

VanceS: then they found it and shipped it to my destination

HoracioHI: In USA?

VanceS: yes

VanceS: meanwhile I'm back in Abu Dhabi

VanceS: I have to go to their office now and negotiate its return

VanceS: I'll be back shortly

VanceS: it's across the street from where I live

DennisOl: OK. Good luck!

BillC: see you in a bit

VanceS: ok

VanceS: bye for a while

HoracioHI: I think it happens only in Caracas

DennisOl: Bis spätter!

CherylO joined the room.

DennisOl: I think it happens everywhere!

HoracioHI: Good luck, Vance

DennisOl: Hi, Cheryl!

BillC: happens here every once in a while, too

CherylO: Hello, and good da

VanceS: bobbi is in second life btw

VanceS: at boracay

VanceS: poo smit

VanceS: is her name

DennisOl: My best to Booby.

VanceS: and she might come here

DennisOl: to Bobbi

VanceS :-)

BillC: poo smit, huh?

DennisOl chuckles. What a typo!

CherylO: love SL names, I am Blizzard Oates

VanceS: if you knew boobi I mean bobbi

CherylO: you guys

VanceS: then .. heh heh

DennisOl chuckles again

VanceS: that's my wife btw

VanceS: hi cheryl

VanceS: she might be along in a minute

CherylO: hi vance, great to see you at Jeff's graduation

HoracioHI: Cheryl. I haven`t been able to enter to SL

VanceS: i have to run to air france

BillC: .oO0 it all comes together now

DennisOl: I hope so. It would be nice to chat.

VanceS: the guys will explain

VanceS: cya inna bit

DennisOl: Yes, let's hear it for the beginnings of a denouement!

VanceS nods off and goes into a deep trance

CherylO: horacioH, I can't go there on my dial up, and it really uses a lot
of computer resources

BillC woohoo!!!!!!!!

DennisOl: Go where? to SL?

HoracioHI: Yes

DennisOl: Ah, thanks, Horacio.

CherylO: SL is pretty in tense on the computer and bandwidth

DennisOl: Definitely!

HoracioHI: Dennis. It`s nice to see you again

BillC: yeah, with dialup

DennisOl: Igualmente, mi amigo Horacio!

BillC: Dennis, how was Phoenix last week?

DennisOl: Horacio, your blogging is getting better and better.

BillC: That was you, right?

HoracioHI: Yo olvidč que tu hablas espaņol

DennisOl: Bill: ???

HoracioHI: Did you see it?

DennisOl: Horacio: como un niņo!

BillC: maybe it wasn't then. .

DennisOl: See the crash?

BillC: crash?

HoracioHI: Which crash

DennisOl: OK. We're talking at cross purposes. What happened in Phoenix?

DennisOl: I'm here in Phoenix, and have lived here for 17 years.

BillC: sorry, I thought you were traveling to Phoenix from Texas last week

HoracioHI: And what happened there

DennisOl: No.

DennisOl: Yes, what happened?

BillC: oh, that's it, just wondering about the trip you didn't take

DennisOl chuckles

BillC: confused? maybe we should go onto the next topic. .

HoracioHI: Dennis. You are learning from SL

DennisOl: One thing that happened in Phoenix was a mid-air collision of two
news helicopters. Quite a tragedy.

BillC: ooh, i didn't hear about that

DennisOl: No, Horacio, I don't go to SL. I don't like it very much, to tell
the truth.

HoracioHI: Were they in an exibition?

CherylO: Dennis, I go there once every 3 weeks, just to check in, but I am
not a fan yet.

CherylO: of SL

CherylO: Gotta go enjoy summer, headed outside. See you another sunday.

HoracioHI: Cheryl. Do you know what LIMBO means?

BillC: see you Cheryl

CherylO: no, Horacio, have not heard of it

HoracioHI: That`s what I was in SL

CherylO: see you Bill

BarbaraS1 joined the room.

DennisOl: This is what happened in Phoenix (the helicopter crash):

DennisOl: http://tinyurl.com/yuhn6p

CherylO: oh, Limbo, is where you need to get your clothes, hair and persona,
then you need a guide to get to the islands

BarbaraS1: HI all

HoracioHI: Hi Barbara

BillC: hey Barbara

CherylO: Hi Barbara

DennisOl: Me, too, Horacio. I see lots of potential, but I feel totally
confused there.

BarbaraS1: Hi Cheryl...Dennis, long time :)

CherylO: Horacio, it is good to go to SL with a friend someone who can give
a tour and teach yo u to fly

DennisOl: Bobbi! It's great to make connections again!

CherylO: I am not a good tour guide and I still walk on the furniture and
fall from the sky when landing.

HoracioHI: Yes, Cheryl

DennisOl: I also don't like the fact that everyone looks the same.

BarbaraS1: same here!  Didn't have much of an internet connection.

BarbaraS1: over the summer, that is.

CherylO: Dennis, you could hang with a different crowd in SL and they don't
look at all the same. I saw a MIT professor who was a shark

DennisOl: You did quite a bit of traveling, Bobbi.

CherylO: Okay, see you next week.

DennisOl: I don't like the animals, either.

RitaZ joined the room.

HoracioHI: Andy sent a message about BEE presentation.

CherylO left the room (signed off).

DennisOl: Rita! Abrazox!

RitaZ hugs everybody good day

BarbaraS1: I heard that was good.

BarbaraS1: hey Rita.

BillC: hey Rita

DennisOl: Yes, Bee's presentation was terrific.

BillC: tell us about it

HoracioHI: Hola Rita, como estās?

BarbaraS1: Vance is away right now.

BarbaraS1: He is at the Air France office.

DennisOl: Thought-provoking, well  organized, full of beautiful photos and
graphics.

BarbaraS1: They lost his bag a month ago

RitaZ: sorry I couldnt attend, Bee, had to supervise exams

BillC: where was the presentation?

DennisOl: A recording is available, Rita.

HoracioHI: In New Orleans

RitaZ: where, Dennis?

DennisOl: At the 2007 Merlot conference in New Orleans.

BillC: cool, what about?

DennisOl: Bee used Alado and Second Life (SL), and  the audio was streamed
by Worldbridges.

HoracioHI: In Andyīs message there is a SL photo. I put names to attendants

DennisOl: Hold on, Bill, and I'll get some info.

RitaZ: thanks, Dennis! Should be there then

MoiraH joined the room.

BillC: thanks, Alado is a new one to me

RitaZ hugs Moi

HoracioHI: Hi Moira. So long time

MoiraH hugs everybody

BillC: Hey Moira

BarbaraS1: Hi Moira.

MoiraH: Hi all :-)

DennisOl: Hi, Moira!

DennisOl: Hugs!

MoiraH: I came earlier and there was nobody so it's nice to see you all :-)

RitaZ: Ove just come in, Moi

BarbaraS1: Vance is at the Air France office trying to retrieve a lost bag.

MoiraH: What are you talking about?

BarbaraS1: He should be back soon.

MoiraH: Air France where?

BillC: a quick trip to www.alado.com brings up some nice info about a
headsail reefing and furling system, guess that's not it. . . .

HoracioHI: Last two weeks I couldnīt enter here. Was it close?

MoiraH: at home?

BarbaraS1: Here is Abu Dhabi.  They lost a bag a month ago, and just found
it.

BarbaraS1: But sent it to my Mom's in Houston.

MoiraH: wow

BarbaraS1: So bag is found.

MoiraH: I've been reading grim reports bout lost baggage here in England

BarbaraS1: but we still don't have it.  We're going to arrange for them to
send it here, I hope.

BarbaraS1: They lost all 3 bags, but found my 2 the next day.

MoiraH: Airlines recommend taking hand luggage only!!!

BarbaraS1: But it took a month to Vance's.

MoiraH: A nightmare!

BarbaraS1: I agree....but they are also limiting size and weight of
carryons.

BillC: so its not just the American airlines having problems, then

RitaZ: flights are a mess everywhere..., I missed mine when back from NY, I
had to spend a night in a hotel in MIami in the middle of nowhere

DennisOl: Bill: The title of Bee's plenary was "Open Networked Learning:
Architectures of Participation." A recording from Alado is available here:

MoiraH: Yes, peoplle take huge things on now as hand luggage and you can
hardly move sometimes as they put things under the seats too

DennisOl: http://www.alado.net/webheads

RitaZ: but American is the WORST of all!!

BarbaraS1: Yes, really.

BillC: oh, alado.NET, .com is not too related. Thanks, Dennis

MoiraH: well Rita, reading the British newspapers, it seems pretty dire here
too :-(

ThomasLev joined the room.

MoiraH: Hi Tom

HoracioHI: Hi Tom

ThomasLev: Hello!

BarbaraS1: Hi!

MoiraH: I avoid flights if I can but that is pretty difficult these days ;-)

BarbaraS1: lol, yes.

HoracioHI: OK people. Itīs time to go. See you later

BarbaraS1: In Europe, i'd much rather take the train.

BarbaraS1: bye.

RitaZ: they gave me a boarding pass for the flight next day which they would
not recognize as valid the next day, when I had to take the other flight to
come home!

MoiraH: Bye Horacio :-))

BarbaraS1: Oh, gosh.

ThomasLev: See you Horacio!

MoiraH: I like driving in Europe - it's pretty easy and you see so much more

HoracioHI left the room (signed off).

DennisOl: Bill: Alado is an online presetation venue. The URL I gave takes
you to the page where the recording of Bee's presentation is listed.

BillC: bye Horacio

MoiraH: the high speed trains are not bad either

RitaZ: YOU are lucky, Moi, living in the centre of the world, I live in the
bottom!!! :-(

MoiraH: lol

BillC: Thanks Dennis, this is good, it recorded the chat too

BarbaraS1: They are nice and comfortable.

MoiraH: but I'd like to go the bottom one day ;-)

DennisOl: Yes, the recording is quite good.

BarbaraS1: And faster than flying sometimes.

BillC: the streaming is smooth

MoiraH: yes, you have to take so many precautions now to get to the airport

DennisOl: And I'd like to go to there, too, Moira.

BarbaraS1: It's awful.

DennisOl: Definitely!

RitaZ: and once on the plane...:-))

MoiraH: gone are the days when you could just zoom in at the last minute,
dump the car in a car park and run for the plane - too many terrorists now
:-(

DennisOl: For sure!

BarbaraS1: We sat behind a mother and two screaming babies for the 13 and
half hour flight from Atlantic to Dubai.

DennisOl: Hi, Tom.

RitaZ: and the service is bad, Moi, worse than that in fact!

MoiraH: Dennis, I've 'suggested' this before but I think we should arrange a
webhead meeting in Argentina - what do you think?

DennisOl: Definitely, Rita!

BarbaraS1: Sorry, I meant Atlanta.

ThomasLev: Hi Dennis!

BarbaraS1: Thate would cool.

DennisOl: I think that would be a wonderful idea, Rita!

BarbaraS1: Are you all still on summer break?

DennisOl: Oops--Moira.

RitaZ: wow, Barbara, there is always a baby screaming behind you whenever
you go!!!

BarbaraS1: Yes, We attract them it seems ;)

MoiraH: When I came back from Seattle Bobbi, I sat next to an American
military officer who promptly got drunk and then snored for the rest of the
flight - we were all relieved ;-)

RitaZ: YESSSSSSS; Argentina for a meeting, YES!

BarbaraS1: It's awful to sit next to a drunk person.

DennisOl: It would be wonderful!

MoiraH: So, if we all agree - how and what do we do now?

DennisOl: (to go to Argentina--not to sit next to a drunk)

MoiraH: Argentina of course :-))

RitaZ suggests ignoring American Airlines

DennisOl: Definitely!

BillC agrees wholeheatedly

BillC wholeheartedly that is. . .

BarbaraS1: Let's take the train!

BarbaraS1: I wish...

RitaZ: and meeting in Buenos Aires, wonderful city, a miox of Madrid and
Paris

MoiraH thinking about a train from Paris to Argentina

BillC .oO0 could be a bit wet. . .

RitaZ: hmmmmmmm, what an idea, Moi

DennisOl: A train to BA. Wouldn't that be terrific?

BarbaraS1: hehe

BarbaraS1: that would be so nice.

BarbaraS1: I can sleep on trains.

BarbaraS1: Not on planes.

RitaZ: learning how to dance the tango..., anybody knows?

BarbaraS1: No, I took Salsa dancing here for awhile.

DennisOl: I'm not a dancer, I'm afraid--except in my mind.

BarbaraS1: But I have 2 left feet.

MoiraH: But we need an 'excuse' to be there - like a f2f convergence

DennisOl: Yes, I agree, Moira.

RitaZ: the most sensual of dances, attracts thousands of toursts

DennisOl: For sure, Rita.

BarbaraS1: yes, very beautiful.

RitaZ: plenty of dancing places to watch, learn, share

RitaZ: good food, BEEF..., the best ;-)

MoiraH: Well, we just have to organsie it then

RitaZ is advertising Arg ;-))

BarbaraS1: You don't have to convince us!

MoiraH likes the advertising

BarbaraS1: It sounds like a great idea...we're all for it.

MoiraH: So let's create our committee now

DennisOl: Check out this link for tango:

DennisOl: http://www.tangoafficionado.com/links.htm

BillC .imagines a streamcast of webheads learning to tango

BarbaraS1: Vance just came back.

MoiraH: Bill, have you been to Argentina?

BillC: 'fraid i haven't been down-- had a good friend from BA

BillC: sounds like a great place

RitaZ: so nobody in this group has yet?

DennisOl: Apparently not.

MoiraH: then here's your excuse to go

ThomasLev: I've wanted to go all my life...

DennisOl: Me, too.

ThomasLev: I'm assuming you'll get us started on the tango...

BarbaraS1: We have the website for it.

MoiraH: Do we agree that Rita is the elected online Tango instructor before
we get there?

RitaZ: not particularly ME..., its VEY difficult, but its sooooooo
enjoyable!

MoiraH: lol

BarbaraS1: Sounds like fun.

RitaZ: the places where tango is danced are called "milongas"

DennisOl: Very interesting.

BarbaraS1: there are special places fo it/

RitaZ: and theres a milonga in a different area every night

BillC: do you suppose we could get something programmed up on the wii for
this? The 'learning tango' wii package. .  .

RitaZ: and there are codes, very interesting rules

BillC: rules?

MoiraH: secret codes?

MichaelAC joined the room.

MoiraH: sounds whoopee

BillC: Hey Michael

MoiraH: let's all go and tango

MichaelAC: Hi everyone

MichaelAC: Tango?

ThomasLev: HI Michael

MoiraH: Hi Michael

RitaZ: Ive heard of them from a lady I met on a trip back from Chile. She
lives there and goes to BA once a month just to go to the milongas!!!!

BillC: Haven't seen you for a couple of weeks

MoiraH: We're trying all to go to Argentina - coming?

MichaelAC: I've been away Bill

RitaZ: hi, Michael, soo long!!

MichaelAC: Ok - Argentina it is!

MoiraH: Great

MichaelAC: Is Vance paying?

RitaZ: I gues you'd enjoy knowing the rules of the game

BillC: is there an Argentina in Second Life?

MoiraH: I want to go to the real one

RitaZ: yes, Argentonia is there, Bill

BarbaraS1: I just go on second life.

BarbaraS1: just got on.

BillC: really?

BarbaraS1: I have a new laptop and can finally get second life.

ThomasLev: can you tango in Second Life?

BarbaraS1: It has Vista but it works o.k.

MoiraH: Vance could set up a venue for Webheads - how about that?

RitaZ: dunno, Tom might be! ;-)

BarbaraS1: Vance is in for a surprise!

MoiraH: If you have the audio file, yes Tom

MoiraH: why not?

MoiraH: yes Bobbi ;-)

MichaelAC: What prompted all this about Argentina?

RitaZ: Moi feels like coming here..., it would be great to meet all of us!

BarbaraS1: We were talking about flying...then trains.

MichaelAC: ic

BarbaraS1: then we talked about a train to Argentina.

BillC: but not flying trains

MoiraH: Well, I mentioned Latin America after Seattle and Argentina has just
come up again and we all want to go there

BarbaraS1: In our dreams.

ThomasLev: long plane flights with drunks

MoiraH: lol

MichaelAC smiles

RitaZ: lol

ThomasLev: we've got the drunks

DennisOl: and crying babies and snoring army officers

RitaZ: and babies screaming

BarbaraS1: and somehow we got onto tangos and Argentina.

ThomasLev: just trying to get the tickets

ClaireB joined the room.

RitaZ: rotfl

DennisOl: Claire!

BillC: don't forget lost baggage, too

ThomasLev: hi Claire!

BarbaraS1: Hi Claire!

BillC: hi Claire

RitaZ: Clari, join the gang!

ClaireB: hi guys!

MichaelAC: Hi there Claire

MoiraH: can we stay in tents in BA or just on the outskirts Rita?  ;-)

ClaireB hugs all who want to be hugged

BarbaraS1: Oh yes, we can hear Vance's story soon.

RitaZ: Webheads are coming to Argentina!

MoiraH: Hi Claire!

ClaireB: cool, when?

BarbaraS1: By train!

ClaireB: vance has a story?

MichaelAC chuckles

MoiraH grabbed the hug

BarbaraS1: About his lost bag.

ClaireB: by train from where?

ClaireB: did you get it back, vance/

RitaZ: from Abu Dabi

BarbaraS1: We would rather take a train then fly.

BillC: oh, you're back Vance

RitaZ: a stopover in Paris

BillC: so what's the story?

BarbaraS1: He is still not sitting down yet.

BarbaraS1: getting some tea.

ClaireB: come on rita, I don't think you can go to argentina by train from
abu d.

BarbaraS1: We wish.

MichaelAC: Claire - were you at the Merlot conference in person?

DennisOl: Unfortunately, folks, I need to leave.

RitaZ: tell him to hurry or he'll miss the train

ClaireB: no, i'm in pittsburgh

ClaireB: i would have liked to be tho

MichaelAC: OK

DennisOl: I thoroughly enjoyed the chat, though.

DennisOl: Take care, all--

MichaelAC: Bye Dennis

ClaireB: i thought it was a thrilling event becuase there were so many
people in SL

MoiraH: lol ... trying to follow the trains, bags a,d conferences here

BillC: see you Dennis

BarbaraS1: Bye, see you.

RitaZ: pity youre leaving, Dennis...

ClaireB: bye dennis

MoiraH: Bye Dennis

DennisOl: Bye . . . . .

MoiraH: Start saving for Argentina

RitaZ: enjoy your week!

ClaireB: who isn't sitting down? vance?

DennisOl left the room (signed off).

ClaireB: when are we going to argentina?

ClaireB: so many questions

BarbaraS1: Yes, he just came back from the Air France office trying to get
his lost bag.

RitaZ: any time you choose, I can book a table at a couple of milongas...

MoiraH: as soon as we can - how about in one year's time?  Too long?  Too
short?

BarbaraS1: which is where they dance the tango.

MichaelAC: Milongas = restaurant?

SusanR joined the room.

MoiraH: Hi Susan

BillC: Hi Susan

SusanR waves

RitaZ: not exactly, just kinds of big dancing places with tables..., some
like bars, some like cafe, some like restaurants.., where tango is danced

MichaelAC: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milonga

ClaireB: hi susan

RitaZ: thank you, Michael

BarbaraS1: Hi Susan.

ClaireB: vance, i always figured you for a carry-on sort of guy

ThomasLev: Hi Susan

MichaelAC: V is not that small

BarbaraS1: We had our packbacks for our hike.

BarbaraS1: and they lost his.....

MichaelAC: but pretty lean though :)

BarbaraS1: with his boots, etc.

ElaineL joined the room.

MoiraH: Rita, do you have any idea of hotel prices in BA?

VanceS rouses at sound of own name

BarbaraS1: and just found it a month later.

VanceS . o O ( blink blink )

BarbaraS1: There he is!

VanceS: hi folks

MoiraH: Hi!

MichaelAC: Hi Vance

VanceS: gosh I must have nodded off there for a moment

ElaineL left the room (signed off).

RitaZ: oh, yes, unfortunately, prices are international, but I can get some
for 40 euros, or less, 3 stars

VanceS: what's up

MoiraH: oohh

MichaelAC: Is BarbaraS1 actually Bobbi?

RitaZ: preparing a Webhead trip to Argentina, Vance

VanceS: the one and the same Michael

BillC: what's the story on the bag Vance?

MoiraH: we're all off to Argentina and you are organising a webhead venue
for it :-)

MichaelAC: ok

ClaireB: vance, did they find your luggage? is it truly lost or just
delayed?

ClaireB: argentina is really really nice

MichaelAC: and you're paying for us all too V

VanceS: so far it's delayed by just over two months

MichaelAC frowns

MoiraH thinks MAC is faster than me ;-)

VanceS: just tell me where to send the check

MichaelAC: deal

MoiraH: yes deal

RitaZ: has it been found, Vance, do you know where?

VanceS deals

MoiraH: Pick the hotel Rita for us all

MichaelAC chuckles

VanceS places two chips on the table

ThomasLev: sometimes our luggage sees more of the world than we do

MoiraH: lol

MichaelAC: Ill see ya!

RitaZ: true, Tom!

MichaelAC: (as in poker)

VanceS: that's the big surprise

BarbaraS1: They found his bag...but took it to my Mom's in Houston.

BillC: you leaving already Michael?

ClaireB: vance TELL US ABOUT THE LUGGAGE (shouting)

VanceS: my mother in law emailed that my luggage had been delivered to her
home

ClaireB: ah

VanceS: two days after we left there

RitaZ: gosh

ClaireB: at least you know where it is

BarbaraS1: So now.....we have to get it here.

MichaelAC: No that was my poker talk Bill ('I'll see Vance')

VanceS: two months after I put it on a plane for Biarritz

ClaireB: is that you, Bobbi

BillC: oh, gotcha

BarbaraS1: Yes, hi Claire.

ClaireB gives Bobbi a special welcoming hug

VanceS sees MC and raises him one blue chip

BarbaraS1: Sorry, I won't be on Twitter.

MichaelAC: And hi  from me now that I know it's you Bobbi!

ClaireB: you don't like Twitter?

BarbaraS1: awww...hugs back.

ClaireB: some people hate it

VanceS: twitter is according to the notice

BarbaraS1: I like it....but the UAE does not.

MichaelAC: I still haven't tried Twitter. Should I?

BillC: seems like a number of dual identities running around here

VanceS: contrary to the morals of the UAE

BarbaraS1: it's blocked here.

RitaZ: I might hate it, so wouldnt give it a ytr myself

BarbaraS1: Silly, isn't it.

BarbaraS1: To block it, I mean.

ClaireB: Is Dusty excited about going to Korea?

MoiraH: still indifferent to twitter so far

VanceS: I have yet to find that eureka moment with Twitter

BarbaraS1: Umm...that's another story.

VanceS: though it's kind of cute

MoiraH: me too Vance

MichaelAC: interesting Moira - tha's how I feel about Twitter....

BarbaraS1: He got a job offer.

MichaelAC: ...I need to be persuaded

BarbaraS1: Got a contract.

ClaireB: actually, I'm now having interesting dialogs on twitter with people
that I never met f2f

VanceS agrees that moira is cute too

MoiraH: yep, me too

BarbaraS1: Then he found that the Korean immigration had to see his diploma.

RitaZ also agrees that Moi is cute and smart

MichaelAC: So it's useful for you Claire?

BarbaraS1: Which won't get printed for another 5 months

ClaireB: a couple of people I have had to stop following on twitter because
they post too many twits per day

BarbaraS1: so.....

VanceS: there is one thing on twitter

BarbaraS1: They won't accept transcripts, etc.

BillC: yeah, Twitter sounds sort of addictive

ClaireB: yes, a bunch of lab directors are on it, and we exchange websites
and short bits of info

MichaelAC: Here (Aust) a twit is an idiot....

MoiraH: Wow, all these compliments - I'm NOT paying for the Argentina trip
;-)

VanceS: I found from his twitter that he was going to hike the pilgrim trail

ClaireB: bobbi, who won't accept transcripts

VanceS: about the same time we were in the region

BillC: that's right, Vance is paying for Argentina. . .

BarbaraS1: The Korean immigration for a work visa.

ClaireB: yes, in the us, a twit is an idiot too

MichaelAC: ok

ClaireB: thanks for paying for argentina, vance

VanceS: my pleasure

MichaelAC: LOL

MoiraH: true Bill, Vance is so cute doing this for us all, isn't he?

VanceS: you should be getting emails with your flight details shortly

BarbaraS1: And did you know it was First Class?

ClaireB: kewl

ClaireB: wow

BarbaraS1: For all of us!

MichaelAC: Should only cost you about $2g per person V

BillC: he gets so many winnings from poker that he's obliged to pay. . .

ClaireB: when is the trip?

RitaZ: missing the offer :-(

BarbaraS1: In fact, why don't we just charter our own Webheads jet?

MoiraH: but we agree to stay in tents on the outskirts of BA, don't we?

BillC: and the law suit over his baggage should get him a good little chunk,
too. . .

VanceS: this is a virtual trip I'm paying for, right?

BarbaraS1: That's a great idea.

MichaelAC: yes - a webheads jet - an excellent suggestion! Or John
Travolta's?

MoiraH: NOOOOO

ClaireB: but seriously folks, when are we going to set up a webheads island
in SL?

MoiraH: a real one

BillC: hey, didn't the x-men have a jet, too?

VanceS: with virtual money ...

MoiraH: noooo- your real money

MichaelAC: yep - REAL money

SusanR . o O ( a voice activated island )

ClaireB: yes

MoiraH: in the name of a webhead meeting

BarbaraS1: Isn't there one already?

ClaireB: oh, listen up, guys, on September 1 the call for proposals for
WorldCALL will come out.

BillC: maybe that makes webheads superheroes. . .

BarbaraS1: I thought I saw Vance on an island in Second Life.

ClaireB: it will be held August 5-8, 2008, in Fukuoka, Japan

BarbaraS1: With our pictures on the wall.

MoiraH: WorldCALL?  In Argentina, Ihope ;-)

ClaireB: I hope that we can have a strong webheads presence there

MichaelAC: That's interesting Claire

VanceS: hmm, that might be fun

RitaZ: fun meeting here...?

ClaireB: there will be scholarships for people from developing countries

MoiraH: France is not developig :-(

RitaZ: mine IS!!!

ClaireB: no, we are using the UN definition

MichaelAC: so go for it Rita

VanceS: mine is developing into a huge traffic jam

MichaelAC: LOL

MoiraH: yes goooo Rita, then you can pay for us to come to Argzentina ;-)

ClaireB: bobbi, that island has photos of the webheads, but it's edunation

RitaZ . o O ( at least one advantage! )

ClaireB: seriously it would be great to have a session about webheads at
worldcall

ClaireB: http://www.worldcall.org

MoiraH: Claire, seriously, where is it held?

MichaelAC: it's must Claire

RitaZ: good, thanks for the link, Calri

MoiraH: Japan

ClaireB: Fukuoka, Japan
August 5-8, 2008

ClaireB: The announcement will go out on all the usual lists

RitaZ: Japan...., couldnt be farther away for me...:-(

BarbaraS1: But maybe convenient for us if we are visiting Dusty in Korea
during the summer.

BarbaraS1: If he ever gets his visa, that is.

ClaireB: there you go, bobbi

BillC: maybe this is the beginning of the webheads Asia tour. . .

ClaireB: if you click on the Fukuoka logo, it will take you to the
conference site that they have already swet up

ClaireB: set up

VanceS: we can swing by chiang mai ...

ClaireB: perfect

RitaZ: ??

BillC: sounds fun. .  .

BarbaraS1: Yes, it really does.

VanceS . o O ( where bill lives )

ClaireB: worldcall takes place every 5 years. The first one was in Australia
in 1998 (vance and I were there) and the second one was 2003 in Canada

NelbaQ joined the room.

ClaireB: hi nelba!

NelbaQ: Hello, everybody

VanceS: hi Nelba, you made it

NelbaQ: I was trapped in a cyber bubble hahaha

NelbaQ: I could not enter the reception

NelbaQ: so I logged out and then logged in again

BillC: sorry, just a sidenote-- didn't quite expect to see his picture there

RitaZ: lol

NelbaQ: Is it an online congres?

NelbaQ: conference, sorry?

ThomasLev: he's a giant in the world of CALL

VanceS: I see we're fresh out of quaggas too

MichaelAC: ????

VanceS: I think this is a case of aggregation gone amiss

MichaelAC: I'd say so

VanceS . o O ( looking at the left hand sidebar items, mC )

RitaZ: quaggas...?(sounds like a name of an animal...?)

VanceS: good guess Rita

VanceS gives rita a point

BillC straining to see quaggas through the crowd

MichaelAC smiles

VanceS . o O ( hint, below andre )

MoiraH: Now that we're all going to Japan first, what conferences are going

VanceS: I found in the site where they are sponsoring four keynote speakers
from Europe, North America, Oceania and Japan

MoiraH: where Vance?

VanceS: hmmm it seems that the Middle East is omitted

RitaZ: you see? South America is ignored :-(
